Ask Congress to Condemn the TPLF's Invasion of Telemet, Raya, North Wollo, and Afar!

Dear Ethiopian-Americans,

We need your help to let Congress know that Amharas are under attack by the TPLF in Telemet, Raya, North Wollo, and Afar!

The United States' State Department has been silent on the TPLF's invasion and occupation of parts of the Amhara and Afar Regions, which has led to the violent displacement of tens of thousands of civilians. We need Congress to weigh in and draw public awareness to the TPLF's ongoing and historical human rights violations.

The goal is for Members of Congress to issue their own statements condemning the TPLF's offensives against the Amhara and Afar Regions and the resulting human rights violations against civilians there. Congress must call on the U.S. government and international community to deplore these attacks and hold the TPLF accountable.

Subject: Condemn the Tigray People's Liberation Front Military Offensive in Ethiopia

Message:

As a constituent, I request that the Member publicly condemn the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF's) ongoing military offensive into Ethiopia's Amhara and Afar Regions. The TPLF has refused to abide by the Ethiopian National Defense Force's unilateral ceasefire, which they declared after withdrawing from the Tigray Region on June 28, 2021. Since then, the TPLF has engaged in offensive military operations against the neighboring Afar and Amhara Regions, capturing towns and villages outside of the Tigray Region. According to regional officials and residents, tens of thousands of civilians have been internally displaced and subjected to violence by the encroaching TPLF fighters. Furthermore In the past year, more than 2,000 ethnic Amharas have been killed, and at least 800,000 internally displaced, by ethnic-based militias emboldened by ethnic federalism - including the TPLF.
